PC brand Compaq earlier this year had announced a licensing partnership with New Delhi-NCR-based Ossify Industries to launch smart TVs in India. The brand has now partnered with Flipkart to sell its new smart TV range starting from September.
Going by popular demand, smart TVs are expected to run Android with full-range support for content streaming apps like Netflix, Hotstar and others. As far as the sizes and resolutions are concerned, it would be highly unlikely that the company will miss out on offering a 4K TV measuring 55-inch. The Compaq Smart TVs will be featuring Mimi Hearing Technologies, Dolby Audio with True surround sound.
The HP-owned PC brand has been missing in action for quite some time now and the new TV business may help in giving another life to the brand.
“We are pleased to announce our foray into the Smart TV industry to offer the best-in-class viewing experience to our consumers. The Smart TV market in India is one of the fastest growing segments under the TV industry and offers a massive opportunity to transition millions of consumers using traditional TVs to multi-functional Smart TVs. In this pursuit, Flipkart engaged, as a natural partner of Ossify’s, with its deep understanding of its consumer base and the Smart TV industry. We aim to share our synergies in bringing the new-age technology solutions to millions of consumers across the country,” said Anand Dubey, CEO – Ossify’s Compaq Televisions Business.
