Social media giant Facebook has started integrating Messenger chats and Instagram direct messages. According to a report by The Verge, Instagram app has received an update which comes with the message: “There’s a New Way to Message on Instagram” with list of features like “new colorful look for your chats,” more emoji reactions, swipe-to-reply, and the big one: “chat with friends who use Facebook.”
Once the app is updated, the DM icon present at the top right of Instagram gets replaced by the logo of Facebook Messenger. The integration is available for both Android and iOS running devices.
As per The Verge report, the update comes with a list of other new features like chats are more colourful and the sender’s message turning Blue and Purple as one scrolls through the chat. However, one is still not able to message Facebook friends from Instagram.
In other news, Facebook is reportedly testing TikTok-video feature in its app. As revealed by social media expert Matt Navarra, the interface and functioning is very similar to TikTok and users are required to scroll down to see the next video. Although Facebook hasn’t made its plans official yet, it is expected that the social media giant is said to be working to fill the gap left after TikTok was banned in India last month.
The social media company has rolled out Reels feature for Instagram users globally. With Instagram Reels, one can create short musical video formats like the ones found on TikTok. It also allows user to record and edit 15-second video clips.
