TikTok was one of the most popular short video platforms and non other competitor has managed to make it as large as TikTok in the short video segment. Now, after its ban in India, there is a huge market opportunity and lots of TikTok alternatives have already flooded Google Play store. Now, social media giant Facebook thinks it may be the right time to offer a TikTok-like video feature inside its app itself.
Facebook has already introduced Instagram Reels and now a short-video feature like may be soon headed the Facebook app. The company is already testing the feature as revealed by social media expert Matt Navarra. The interface and functioning is very similar to TikTok and users are required to scroll down to see the next video.
Facebook hasn’t made its plans official yet but it is expected that the social media giant will try it best to fill the gap left by TikTok in India for content creators and viewers. This feature is currently being tested in India for some users.
As far as Reels is concerned, with Instagram Reels, you can create short musical video formats like the ones found on TikTok. It also allows you to record and edit 15-second video clips. You can also set to the music of your choice on the clip. You are also allowed to use audio from other people’s videos the same as it is done on TikTok. The Reels posted to the Feed will appear in the Reels tab present on your Instagram profile. The Reels which you will post in Stories will disappear in 24 hours and will also not appear on your profile.
Meanwhile, Facebook recently introduced official music videos for Facebook Watch in India. It is available in India, Thailand, and the US. This allows people to view music videos on Facebook itself.
