These are difficult and unusual times for brands, consumers and everyone around the world. Yet, Samsung seems to be riding on a high with the launch of its new Galaxy Note 20 series of smartphones. The company claims that the new series smartphones, launched last week at the company’s Unpacked 2020 event, have hit a pre-booking milestone.
In an interaction with The Times of India-Gadgets Now, Aditya Babbar, director, mobile business, Samsung India, said that the pre-booking notifications for Galaxy Note 20 have crossed more than 5 lakh in India.
The Note series has always been an important phone in Samsung’s line up of devices. While the premium Galaxy S-series of phones are more about the camera, the Note series is what Babbar puts is “work and play” device. The company isn’t worried about any cannibalisation as both series of devices have a different clientele, says Babbar.
The coronavirus pandemic has made companies alter their best laid plans and Samsung is no different. Babbar says that Samsung understands the challenges of selling smartphones in the current scenario and has taken ample measures to do so. “We know people aren’t that comfortable stepping out of their homes to buy new phones,” he says.
To counter that fear, Samsung has launched a demo-on-demand service where interested buyers can book an appointment at Samsung stores and get demos of the phone they want to buy at their doorstep. The service has been launched last week and Babbar remains confident about users availing it and providing them a safe experience. This isn’t the only step Samsung has taken as all its stores across the country have received Suraksha certification as well. Babbar expects the Note 20 to have a mix of online and offline sales push in the next few months.
Samsung has packed in all the bells and whistles in the Note 20 series and Babbar says it’s a phone designed for the current scenario. The key selling points of the Note 20 series would be its display, refresh rate, powerful battery and an impressive camera. Not to forget the S-Pen that has also got some new features.
The Note series has always been a premium phone and priced on the higher side. The Note 20 series starting price is Rs 77,999 but Samsung has ‘lowered’ the price with a few deals and offers. As the company announced its new Mystic Blue colour variant of the Note 20, it indicated that users can get the Note 20 starting at Rs 64,999 with a few caveats. The Note 20 is a phone tailor made for millennials and designed to give the best output in the current scenario, says Babbar.
