Google announced a bunch of Go variants of its most popular apps specifically designed for low-end devices running Android Go operating system. Most Go variant apps are usually available for regular Android users to download via Play Store, except Gmail Go. The company has now silently released Gmail Go on Play Store for regular users.
The Gmail Go app is listed as a regular Gmail app on Play Store, the only difference can be seen in the logo which carries a Red colour Go logo on the top of the Gmail logo.
The description of the Gmail Go listing reads, “The Gmail you love, now lighter and just as fast. Enjoy a smart inbox that keeps your messages safe and you organized. Receive notifications when mail arrives, then read and respond both online & offline. Plus, find messages quickly with powerful search and lots more.”
The Gmail Go comes with almost identical user interface as well. After launching the app, one will see the mails from the Inbox section and tap on it to open or swipe left or right swipe to perform the preset commands. Also, the app supports multiple accounts and different inboxes just like the regular Gmail app. The only noticeable thing missing is the bottom menu bar where we usually find the Meet, Chats and Rooms integration in the Gmail app.
