Google Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL won’t get Android updates from December

NEW DELHI: Tech giant Google has already announced that its Pixel phones will get Android updates at least 3 years from when the device first became available on the Google Store. Now, the life cycle of two of the Pixel smartphones will end this year.
The company has officially confirmed that both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2XL will not receive any Android or security update after December 2020. Both the smartphones recently received Android 11 update which is the last major update of the devices. The smartphones also got the security patch update for the month of October.
The company has confirmed that it will roll out the last and final update for both the smartphones in December this year. The company launched the smartphones in October 2018 and both of them have completed their life cycle of three years.
Recently, Google confirmed that it will launch its affordable Pixel 4a smartphone in India on October 17. Customers will be able to purchase the device online from Flipkart. “Pixel 4a will release in India on October 17th and will be available for purchase on Flipkart. Google Pixel 4a comes with a 5.81-inch FHD+ OLED display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. The display is protected with a coating of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on top. The smartphone is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor with Adreno 618 GPU and comes with Titan M security chip.
