Due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic , the government of India has extended the last date of filing income tax returns till November 30 for financial year 2019-20. The last date for filing previous financial year has also been extended till September 30.

So, if you haven’t filed your income tax returns as of now, here’s how you can do it while staying at home. Simply follow our step-by-step instructions.

Things to keep in handy before proceeding with the steps:

  • Login information
  • Bank details
  • PAN number

Steps to file income tax return online

1.

Visit the e-filing website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in on any browser

2.

From the right side of the page, choose the relevant option.

If you are new to e-filing, click on the Register button or simply proceed with the Login option.

3.

After you’ve logged into the account, choose income tax return filing option

4.

Choose the assessment year for you which you want to file the return.

5.

This will take you to a new page, where you can choose the AY year from the drop down menu.

6.

Fill in all the necessary ITR forms including the Form 16 and click Prepare and Submit online button

7.

Choose the bank account in which you want to get the refund amount.
