Facebook-owned Instagram has turned 10. To mark the occasion, the photo messaging app has introduced a host of new features for its users. These include a Stories Map and two well-being updates to hide potentially offensive comments and expanding nudge warnings.
The new Stories Map is a private map and calendar of the stories which one has shared in the last three years. Users will be able to share, download and save these stories to the highlights. Instagram is also introducing a new feature that will automatically hide comments similar to others that have been reported by a user. These comments can be viewed by tapping “View Hidden Comments”. Other comments violating Community Guidelines will continue to be removed, Instagram said.
With the Nudge Warnings feature, Instagram will send an additional warning when people repeatedly attempt to post comments that might be offensive. “These new warnings let people take a moment to step back and reflect on their words and lay out the potential consequences should they proceed,” the company added.
Meanwhile, Facebook has announced to merge Instagram DMs (Direct Message) with Facebook’s Messenger platform. With the integration, users who use Messenger app will be able to reach others on Instagram without needing to download a new app, and vice versa. Meanwhile, Instagram is reportedly getting ten new features that are said to make the experience seamless. These include Selfie stickers, emojis, Watch Together and a vanish mode, where you can set messages to automatically disappear after they’re seen.
