SanDisk has announced two new portable SSDs under its Extreme and Extreme Pro lineup — the SanDisk Extreme V2 and SanDisk Extreme Pro V2 .The SSDs feature USB-C and are claimed to give twice the performance than the previous generation. The SanDisk Extreme V2 comes at $119 (for 500GB) and at $199 (for 1TB) with a 2TB variant slated to arrive soon. The SanDisk Extreme Pro has been priced at $499 (for 2TB) with a 1TB version coming soon.
SanDisk Extreme V2 comes with 256-bit AES hardware encryption and has got an IP55 rating. The device has seen several upgrades in features, like the upgrade from SATA SSD to NVMe and from USB 3.1 Gen to 3.2 Gen. As per the company, the SSD’s speed has been upped from 550MB per second to 1050MB per second read speed and 1000MB write speed
The move to NVMe as well as the move from USB 3.1 Gen 2 to USB 3.2 Gen 2 aids a massive boost in performance. It has improved from 550MB per second to 1050MB per second read speed and 1000MB per second write speed.
Coming to the more feature-rich model of the two, the SanDisk Extreme Pro V2 is claimed to give 2000 megabytes per second read and write speeds. The device comes coated with liquid silicone and has got an IP55 rating for water and dust resistance. This one has also got 256-bit AES hardware encryption.
