The year 2020 has been exceptionally good for Apple in India as the company’s sales have boomed. CEO Cook made a special mention of India business at the company’s global earnings call late last month. Cook was all praise for the company’s performance in India in Apple’s September quarter.
“Geographically, we set September quarter records in the Americas, Europe and rest of Asia-Pacific. We also set a September quarter record in India, thanks in part to a very strong reception to this quarter’s launch of our online store in the country,” Cook said during the global earnings call.
In October, Apple opened its first Online Store in India to allow it to reach out to more consumers. In what one may be termed as a warm response to the store, the Diwali offer on the website reportedly went out of stock within hours of going live. As part of the offer, Apple’s India store gave customers AirPods free on purchase of iPhone 11 at Rs 54,900. This offer apparently went out of stock within a couple of hours post 12 AM, October 17, when the sale went live.
While sharing the key highlights of just concluded Amazon Great Indian Festival sale, the e-tailer too claimed that the customers purchased more Apple iPhones in 29 days of the Great Indian Festival than all of last year.
