Smartphone brand Vivo is soon going to revamp its custom Android layer, claims a report by GizChina. The report claims that the company will introduce a new UI, called Origin OS.
The report cites a popular Weibo leakster, Digital Chat Station, who also adds that this custom layer is expected to replace the current Funtouch OS and come with new improvements, even though it doesn’t mention what these improvements are.
“This system will come with new and complete features and should be among the first echelon of Android customised UI,” adds the report. The tentative date for the rollout of this new custom OS is expected to be between November and December.
The first handset lineup that is rumoured to run on Origin OS is Vivo X60 series.
Just this month, an image appeared on Chinese microblogging website Weibo showing a retail store in China with the branding of Vivo X60 indicating an imminent launch.
Going back further, in July earlier this year, an alleged listing of Vivo X60s on Bluetooth SIG site showed that the device is expected to come with a 33W fast charging and may be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SoC paired with 8GB RAM.
So far, there is no word on the launch of Origin OS or the Vivo X60 series from the company.
